Summer - Don't Go So Fast!!

We have had a busier summer than I had hoped for. Sometimes at the beginning of the summer I think of all the fun things I'm going to do with my kids before summer is over. And for those who are volleyball coaches know that summer is done much earlier than non-volleyball people. So while I think it's going to be relaxed, it's not.
Now, don't get me wrong. The majority of our busyness is because we go to the pool 3-4 days a week. (I don't think going to the pool was nearly as tiring when I was a kid!! I'm exhausted when I come home!) So really I am not complaining. I also run a couple of camps and we have off-season practice twice a week.
And, don't get me wrong. I LOVE volleyball season. I love when 2-A-Days comes. Yes, I'm exhausted and all of that. But I LOVE being in the gym with the girls. And I LOVE being able to talk about Jesus all the time because we are a Christian Home School team.
Here is my issue: when volleyball season starts I feel like the rest of my life is on hold until November. In the past it has become all-consuming and really an idol in some ways.
BUT GOD...don't you love when you see that phrase in scripture..but God has been teaching me so much in the last few years. Coaching volleyball does not define me - my relationship with Jesus defines me.
This season will be even more different because we are going to start home schooling my oldest son. I'm VERY excited about this!! And I'm VERY excited to watch God work through me in volleyball while I have life outside of volleyball. It will definitely require continual surrender.
What about you? Does the season become all-consuming for you as well?
