It's Good to Forget Sometimes

We had our Royals awards ceremony last night. This is the only opportunity our organization has to all get together at the same time under one roof. Each team from each sport is recognized. We all go up on stage, and I get to talk a little about our season highlights.
I am privileged to work with such amazing girls, so it is so fun for me to share some of our spiritual memories as well as our season highlights.
Some of the spiritual memories I shared were:
A few of the girls prayed for my hurting wrist.
How one of the girls' favorite memories was when they prayed together at a particular tournament.
When we talked at one tournament about going around praying for people and then at nationals we did get to pray for someone who was injured.
When it comes to the volleyball highlights, sometimes I have to ask the girls to remind me of things. For example, I often don't remember who received an all-tournament award (and I didn't event think to announce the girls who got all-tournament at Nationals - oops.) So, before the ceremony started, I meant to ask a few of the girls what place we finished at this one particular tournament because I couldn't remember. I forgot again, so as they were walking up on stage, I started asking them. Most of them could not remember what place we got. (It's possible that someone did, but didn't hear me or didn't speak up.) They only remembered that we were in the platinum division. I thought we got 4th so that's what I told the crowd and that was it.
The next day I remembered...we lost the semi-finals and the third place match to other home school teams and they were both tough losses.
I LOVE that we forgot. It says alot about our team and what our focus was most of the time. We were doing our best to focus on glorifying God, playing together as a team, and enjoying each other. The winning and losing just doesn't matter.
One of my favorite verses about remembering from Isaish 43:18-19
“Remember not the former things,
nor consider the things of old.
Behold, I am doing a new thing;
now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?"
