24-24? Oh! Great job girls!

We played a match against another home school team. Some of my girls played club with some of their girls which can always make a match challenging. We were playing HORRIBLE in the first game. My girls were freaking out and pretty much giving up. The way the score table was, I couldn't see the score from the bench unless they turned the flip chart around. I called a time out at 16-19. We slowly came back and I think it was more their errors than us playing better. Then I called my second time out at 18-22. I probably didn't know the score until after I called it. Sometimes time outs are less about the score and more about your gut. Then they called a time out. I hadn't looked at the score since the time out I called. They told me it was 24-24. I don't know why I was shocked. I guess I was expecting us to lose just like they were expecting us to lose. So I said exactly what this title says "Oh! Great job girls!"
This is a classic case of letting go and playing freely when you realize you are going to lose. They feel like since they have nothing to lose, they can just play. I'm constantly trying to teach them to play freely no matter what. God is their only audience and the score and winning and losing doesn't matter. Yet, here we are.
So we won 26-24. Then we won 25-15, 25-13.
